Absolutely as it came off the station platform after closure. A 1965 photo accompanies with a steam freight approaching. The station looks pretty derelict and no evidence of this sign, however, an LNWR Bridge Plate is visible. |

BR(W) Totem BUILDWAS, F/F.Ex GWR Severn Valley Line station between Shrewsbury and Bridgnorth, closed in 1963. A lovely totem which has a few minor edge chips, the bottom couple just encroaching the cream banding, otherwise the face is excellent with no loss to any lettering or chocolate enamel. This totem, as can be seen in the accompanying photo, was pushed between the stakes of the fence backing the station platform. Just visible on the second photograph with 4114 in the platform and Buildwas Signalbox in the distance. Very rare to actually have a photograph of the very totem! |

Inside is the original, headed letter dated March 1921 which was sent to the appropriate relative asking that the details are checked for correctness. G.P.O. Brass Cased Drum Clock with second hand. Stamped G.P.O. on case rear together with the identification CG 24 235 No.1. A heavy clock with a good quality, English Astral movement which is in full working order. The enamelled dial has no chips and the case retains its original gimbal pins. These pins allowed the clock to rotate under movement. From an early Railway Travelling Post Office Carriage. Very rare indeed. |

LNWR Mahogany Box bearing a brass plate on the face engraved L&NW Ry Co No 35 Blakey Emmott & Co Halifax. Above this is a brass push-button which opens the box to reveal a superb, mahogany cased Switching Out Box . The front of this box has a brass handle with a brass plate either side, one marked Closed one marked open. The front of the first box drops down to enable the lid of the inside box to slide forward and off to reveal the mechanism. Stamped into the wood on the front rim of the inside box is again, the makers name and also the number 11 (which is also stamped into the lid). A very well made and attractive device.Came from Port Dinorwic Signalbox, Menai Bridge to Caernarfon line. |
